pebhmoob…& SCHlers,

According to presentation made by long time SE Asian Anthropologist
Dr. Jacques LeMoines recently at the Concordia University-Saint Paul’s
Center for Hmong Studies’ 2nd International Conference on Hmong
Studies that not all Miao ethnic minority groups in China consider
themselves Hmong; in fact, some had even petitioned the Chinese
government to reclassify them under different ethnic group. We, the
Hmong, are apart of the political terminology Miao ethnic group, but
not all Miao considered themselves Hmong. The best example is the US’
category of the Native (American Indians). They are such, but belong
to different tribe with their own unique way of life and language.
Just like the Mioa in China…Eastern, Central and Western dialects…

The name miao cover all the people so call Meo, Hmong Daw, Southern
Hua Miao, Northern Hua Miao, Sinicised Miao, Horned Miao, Gha-Mu,  A-

The Hmong is very narrow down to the Hmong Daw or White Hmong and the
Mong even more narrow to the Green Mong.  I still have no idea about
the Mhong but what soever can we just use the name Miao because it
cover all group of animals in the land.

How you think about please share?
